Appalachian State will host Montana on Sept. 8 next season rather than the originally scheduled Sept. 1, to help accommodate the Southeastern Conference's move from 12 to 14 teams.

The Mountaineers will now travel to Eastern Carolina on Sept. 1 before hosting Montana in the home opener on Sept. 8.

The move is a result of the SEC's need to move East Carolina's game against South Carolina to Sept. 8, which was the originally scheduled date for the Mountaineers' match-up in Greenville, N.C.
