Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is set to miss the next three weeks after injuring his groin while on international duty with Croatia.

The former Tottenham man had to be substituted after 27 minutes of Croatia's 1-1 draw with Italy on Sunday in Euro 2016 qualifying, and he is expected to miss the next three weeks according to reports.

Modric has appeared in 10 games in La Liga this season for Real Madrid, scoring one goal and assisting on two others as his team sits atop of the league by two points ahead of Barcelona.

The injury means that Modric will miss league contests with Eibar, Malaga and Celta Vigo, while a Champions League match with FC Basel would also come too soon.
