MLB suspends Orioles minor leaguer

Major League Baseball suspended Baltimore Orioles minor league catcher Michael Ohlman on Tuesday.

Ohlman, who is currently on the roster of the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds, received a 50-game ban for a second violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program for a drug of abuse.

The 21-year-old was selected by Baltimore in the 11th round of the 2009 First- Year Player Draft and batted .224 with four home runs and 51 RBI in 105 games with Delmarva in 2011.

The suspension will be effective immediately.
