Springfield, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Having spent the last 14 seasons at Missouri, new Missouri State football coach Dave Steckel will get to head back to Columbia when the intrastate schools meet in 2017.

The Bears will play Missouri for the first time since 1923 when they meet on Sept. 2, 2017 at Faurot Field.

"It's fun and exciting for us to get to play at Mizzou in 2017," Steckel said Wednesday. "Our alums have been asking for a game like this, and I'm really happy we were able to do this for them and for all football fans in the state of Missouri."

Missouri State, which finished 4-8 last season, also announced an 11th game for its 2015 schedule - a Sept. 12 matchup against Chadron State which will be the first of the Bears' five home games. The Stec era will kick off on Sept. 5 at Memphis.
