Miranda inks new Atletico deal

Madrid, Spain – Atletico Madrid announced Tuesday that defender Miranda has signed a contract extension with the club, keeping him at the Vicente Calderon until 2016.

Miranda joined Atletico in 2011 from Brazilian club Sao Paolo. The 28-year-old Brazilian has been an important piece in helping the Rojiblanocs win the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Super Cup during the past 12 months.

"I am very happy," Miranda told Atletico's official website. "I have been working to earn a new contract and I think this is a good deal for both parties.

"I feel great at Atletico, it feels like home. Madrid is a city I love. I am very happy here."
