Minnesota State, Mankato, right-hander Jason Hoppe has set the NCAA single-season record with 55 1-3 consecutive scoreless innings.

Hoppe pitched 3 1-3 scoreless innings in the Mavericks' 6-5 victory over St. Edward's on Thursday night to help them advance to the school's first Division II national championship game. Hoppe's streak ended with a one-out single in the fourth inning. He broke the previous record of 54 set by SIU-Edwardsville's Kyle Jones in 2006.

Hoppe's streak started on April 7 against Augustana, more than seven weeks ago. He allowed three runs on eight hits in five innings and did not factor in the decision.

The Mavericks (42-8) will play either Tampa or Grand Valley State in the title game on Saturday.
