Flushing, NY – The New York Mets activated pitcher Johan Santana from the 15-day disabled list and named him the starter for Saturday's matchup with the Atlanta Braves.
Santana was touched for six runs on seven hits over just three innings in his last start on July 20 against the Dodgers before a sprained right ankle forced the left-hander to the DL.
The 33-year-old, who tossed the first no-hitter in Mets franchise history on June 1 against St. Louis, owns a 6-7 record and a 3.98 earned run average over 19 starts this season.
To make room for Santana, New York designated pitcher Garrett Olson for assignment.
Olson, 28, appeared in one game for the Mets, giving up four runs on three hits and a one walk while recording just one out.
