The Binghampton Mets invited fans to attend 'Netflix and Chill' night via their official Twitter account on Monday. But it didn't take long for the tweet to be deleted.
We're assuming whoever sent out the tweet was unaware that the phrase is a trendy euphemism for hooking up, and would make for an extremely inappropriate baseball promotion. But thanks to the power of social media, the tweet went viral, and the @bmets learned very quickly of the meaning behind 'Netflix and Chill.'
The post was deleted, and the team had fun with the mix-up and clarified the intentions of the promotion:
Whether it was done on purpose or not, the tweet certainly got people talking about the Binghampton Mets -- which is the entire purpose of social media, right? Mission accomplished.
