McIlroy shoots 68 at the Masters

Augusta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - World No. 1 Rory McIlroy carded a 4-under 68 on Saturday at the Masters, but it could have been even better.

The reigning Open Champion and PGA Championship winner bogeyed two of the last three holes en route to posting 6-under-par 210 through 54 holes, and left the course tied for eighth.

McIlroy is looking to complete the career grand slam with a victory at Augusta National.

The 25-year-old poured in a 37-footer for eagle at the par-5 second to quickly move to minus-4 for the tournament. He parred five in a row to remain there.

McIlroy reached the green in two at the par-5 eighth and 2-putted for birdie. He made it two in a row by sinking a 7-foot birdie effort on No. 9.

After three more pars, McIlroy 2-putted the par-5 13th for birdie. He has played that hole in 4-under for the week with an eagle and two birdies. After a par at 14, he made his third birdie in three days at the par-5 15th.

But, things took a turn for the worse from there. McIlroy's tee shot at the par-3 16th missed the green. He chipped to nine feet, but missed the par putt.

McIlroy found a fairway bunker off the tee at the 18th. After his second came up just short, he chipped to eight feet. McIlroy's par putt lipped out and he walked off at minus-6, eight strokes behind leader Jordan Spieth.
