NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Eric McClure was released from the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center on Monday after being involved in a serious crash this past weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.

McClure, who drives the No. 14 Toyota for TriStar Motorsports, slammed head on into the inside retaining wall in turn three during Saturday's Nationwide race at Talladega. The 33-year-old was airlifted to the hospital shortly after the incident happened.

According to team spokesperson Emily Brandt, McClure suffered a concussion and mild internal bruising. He is expected to make a full recovery.

It's not known at this time if McClure will compete in Friday night's Nationwide event at Darlington Raceway. McClure will have to be medically cleared by NASCAR before he can return to competition.

Brandt noted that McClure will follow up with specialists regarding his injuries later this week.
