Mascherano out for up to two weeks

Barcelona, Spain – Barcelona confirmed Wednesday that defender Javier Mascherano will be out of action for up to two weeks due to a hamstring injury.

The Argentina international limped off after just 35 minutes of Barcelona's 4-1 win over Real Sociedad on Tuesday night and tests carried out on Wednesday revealed that he has sustained a hamstring strain.

Mascherano will miss Saturday's trip to Almeria as well as next week's Champions League clash with Celtic and probably the home match against Valladolid on Oct. 5.
