Maryland already knew it would be without suspended wide receiver Stefon Diggs on Saturday against No. 12 Michigan State.

Now the Terrapins face the possibility of playing the rest of the season with their standout playmaker on the sideline.

Diggs lacerated his kidney in a game against Penn State on Nov. 1. Before the injury became apparent, the Big Ten handed Diggs a one-game suspension for his part in a pregame skirmish involving the Terps and Nittany Lions.

Diggs leads Maryland in catches and yards receiving. He's scored five touchdowns and is a big reason why the Terrapins are 6-3 and bowl eligible.

A junior, Diggs missed the final six games of the 2013 season with a broken leg. There's a good chance he won't finish this season, either.
