Florida Marlins pitcher Javier Vazquez has been named the National League Pitcher of the Month for September.

Vazquez was an impressive 5-0 in five September starts, leading the NL in wins while compiling the lowest ERA (0.71) among qualifying starters.

He ranked second among National Leaguers in innings pitched (38.0) and fourth in strikeouts (36) while walking just three.

In 32 starts this season for Florida, Vazquez went 13-11 with a 3.69 ERA. He had two complete games and one shutout.

Other pitchers receiving votes were Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Roy Halladay of the Philadelphia Phillies, Madison Bumgarner of the San Francisco Giants, with Ian Kennedy and J.J. Putz of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
