Madrid meets Valencia in top-four clash

Madrid, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Real Madrid's title ambitions will be put to the test on Saturday when the club welcomes fourth-place Valencia to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid lost 2-1 at Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday, but Carlo Ancelotti's side will now turn its attentions back to the title race in La Liga with the club sitting two points back of Barcelona with three games to play.

The match carries huge importance for Valencia as well with Los Che currently sitting three points above Sevilla in the race for the final Champions League spot.

Valencia already owns a win over Real this season back in January, and winger Pablo Piatti is confident his side can repeat that effort.

"We are confident about our chances," Piatti said. "We are aware that we will have opportunities against Real Madrid and we must be at 100 percent to take advantage of them. We should be focusing on everything we can do, both in attack and defense."

The club is coming off a 3-1 win over Eibar to go three points clear of Sevilla, while Madrid has won seven straight league matches since a loss to Barcelona in March.

Barcelona is also in action on Saturday and the club hosts mid-table Real Sociedad with Barca hoping to take another step toward clinching La Liga.

Atletico Madrid sits in third place, four points clear of Valencia, and the team travels to Levante with the hope of securing three points to strengthen their hold on third place.

Sevilla travels to mid-table Celta Vigo with the club hoping to keep its Champions League hopes alive, and they will be full of confidence following a 3-0 Europa League victory over Fiorentina on Thursday.

Granada hosts Cordoba in a battle of the bottom two sides in La Liga, Deportivo sits one point from safety and visits Athletic Bilbao, Villarreal tangles with Elche, Almeria takes on Malaga and Rayo Vallecano battles Getafe.

Friday's match saw Espanyol double up on Eibar, 2-0, with goals from Sergio Garcia and Cristian Stuani.
