Mike McCarthy isn't averse to changing things up in his ninth year coaching the Green Bay Packers.

After two injury-filled seasons, an alteration is coming to how Green Bay prepares for games.

The practice schedule is changing, with players getting an off day, then running through practice the day before a game. That's the reverse of how things were done last season. The change starts in the preseason.

McCarthy said Friday it was the first time he had changed the schedule in his tenure. He describes it as a philosophical shift.

Green Bay won a third straight NFC North title last year. The season will also be remembered for a swath of injuries, including the broken collarbone that sidelined quarterback Aaron Rodgers for nearly two months.
