Liverpool's Doni to serve one-game ban

Liverpool, England – Liverpool goalkeeper Alexander Doni will serve a one-fixture suspension after the English FA denied his appeal Thursday for wrongful dismissal.

Doni was sent off Tuesday in a match with Blackburn for denying a goal scoring opportunity, and a regulatory commission heard the appeal Thursday but upheld the red card and one-game suspension.

Brad Jones, Liverpool's third-choice goalkeeper, replaced Doni in the game and saved a penalty kick immediately after entering the match. Jones will now have to step into the lineup Saturday in the FA Cup semifinals against Everton.

First-choice goalie Pepe Reina is also suspended.
