Levante has confirmed that Joaquin Caparros will take charge of the club as manager for the upcoming season.

Caparros takes over for Juan Ignacio Martinez, who was not offered a contract extension after guiding Levante to a mid-table finish this past season.

Levante took part in the Europa League this past year for the first time, but Caparros will be inheriting a club that is under investigation for alleged match fixing in a defeat to Deportivo.

The 57-year-old Caparros has spent time in charge of Spanish sides Athletic Bilbao, Deportivo and Sevilla, and was most recently the manager of Mallorca before being fired in the middle of the season.
