Betnijah Laney scored 17 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds for her fifth consecutive double-double to open the season, and No. 21 and undefeated Rutgers beat winless Colgate 66-44 on Friday.

Kahleah Copper also scored 17 points for the Scarlet Knights (5-0). Both Laney and Copper made over half of their shots, making up for Rutgers' overall shooting percentage of 37.1 (26 of 70). The team's leading scorer coming into the game at 17.3 points per game, Tyler Scaife, scored six points, making just 3 of 11 shots. Rutgers made only 1 of 11 3-pointers.

The Red Raiders (0-5) had a worse day, making just 16 of 56 shots for 28.6 percent. They made 3 of 17 3-pointers and didn't have a player reach double figures.

The Scarlet Knights had a 50-45 rebounding edge and took advantage of 18 Colgate turnovers, nine coming off steals.
