Beaumont, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Following its best season since restoring its football program, Lamar agreed to terms on a new three-year contract with coach Ray Woodard, the Southland Conference university said Thursday.

Lamar finished 8-4 this season - its fifth since the program was brought back in 2010. The Cardinals also set a school record with five wins in Southland action.

Woodard has a 25-32 record (.439) in his five seasons.

"We are very happy about keeping Coach Woodard at Lamar," athletic director Jason Henderson said. "We believe that he, and his staff have this program headed in the right direction."

Terms of the contract were not released.
