MILWAUKEE - The next stop in Kirk Muller's coaching career will be the American Hockey League.

He's been hired as the head coach of the Milwaukee Admirals.

Muller spent the past five seasons as an assistant coach with the Montreal Canadiens and interviewed for some of the vacant head coaching jobs around the NHL this summer.

Instead, he'll take over an Admirals team that went 44-22-14 last season and finished first in the West Divison.

Former Milwaukee coach Lane Lambert was promoted to an assistant job with the parent Nashville Predators earlier this month.

Muller played for six NHL teams during a 19-year career, putting up 959 points in 1,349 games.
