Kentucky and Syracuse remained the top two teams in the latest Associated Press men's college basketball poll.

The Wildcats are the top team in the nation for a sixth straight week and for the eighth week overall. They previously had a two-week stay at the top starting in late November.

Kentucky received 63 first-place votes and a total of 1,623 points from a nationwide media panel for the fifth consecutive week.

Syracuse, which preceded Kentucky at the top with a six-week stay, again held firm at No. 2 with the other two first-place votes. Kansas, Duke and Michigan State round out the top five, each moving up one spot.

North Carolina, Missouri, Marquette, Baylor and Ohio State complete this week's top 10. Missouri tumbled four spots from third after losses to Kansas State and Kansas last week, while Baylor moved up four spots from 13th.

The second 10 consists of Georgetown, Murray State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Wichita State, Florida, UNLV, Indiana, Louisville and Notre Dame. Georgetown dropped two spots from ninth after a loss at Seton Hall, while Indiana vaulted five places after a pair of wins.

San Diego State, Florida State, Temple, Virginia and Creighton are the last five teams ranked this week. Florida State lost twice last week and plummeted seven spots from 15th, while Temple and Virginia each remained in the poll despite losses last week.

Creighton is again ranked after a two-week absence, replacing New Mexico. The Lobos, who entered the poll for the first time last week at No. 18 after wins over San Diego State and UNLV, lost road games to Colorado State and TCU.

The power conferences will complete regular-season play this week with a number of ranked matchups.

Michigan State, in an effort to lock up the outright Big Ten title, has a couple of tough games with a trip to Indiana on Tuesday and a visit from Ohio State on Sunday.

The ACC regular-season crown will likely be on the line Saturday when Duke welcomes arch-rival North Carolina, while another big ACC contest on Thursday pits Florida State at Virginia.

In the Big East on Saturday, Georgetown visits Marquette and Syracuse hosts Louisville. Saturday's schedule also includes a matchup of SEC heavyweights as Florida hosts Kentucky.
