Jones upends Marrone to keep cruiserweight belt

Hollywood, FL – Guillermo Jones earned a sixth-round technical knockout of Mike Marrone to keep his WBA cruiserweight title.

Jones (38-3-2, 30 KOs) knocked down Marrone (20-4, 15 KOs) in rounds five and six before the bout was finally stopped at 1:55 of the sixth round.

It was the second title defense for Jones, who captured the belt with a TKO of Firat Arslan in September 2008. He beat Valery Brudov in October of 2010.
