John L. Smith named coach at Weber State

Ogden, UT – Weber State has hired former Louisville and Michigan State coach John L. Smith to take over as head football coach.

A former linebacker and quarterback at Weber State from 1968-1970, Smith also has head coaching stints at Idaho, Utah State. He has been the special teams coach at Arkansas since 2009.

Smith replaced Ron McBride, who announced his retirement after seven season as head coach at Weber State.

Smith has a career record of 132-86 as a head coach.
