New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes says he is "getting better" but not sure when he'll be able to play as he rehabilitates a foot injury that's sidelined him since early last season.

Holmes, on the physically unable to perform list, says he's looking at his return to the football field on a "day to day" basis. However, the doctors say it's "week to week." Holmes has been doing some light jogging and using an anti-gravity treadmill to reduce pressure on the foot. He's not able to fully run.

He injured his left foot in Week 4 of last season and needed two surgeries. Holmes suffered a Lisfranc injury, which usually involves separation of ligaments and joints in the middle of the foot.
