Jackson State and Southern were involved in a postgame brawl on Saturday night after Deion Sanders’ squad secured a 21-17 win and a SWAC East division title.

Tigers quarterback Shedeur Sanders, one of Deion’s sons on the team, led Jackson State back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter. He threw two touchdown passes to Malachi Wideman, including a 50-yard pass with 1:31 left in the game and lifted the Tigers to the win.

Sanders finished 24-for-31 with 260 passing yards and had 38 rushing yards. Wideman had four catches for 81 yards.

But the win was overshadowed by what happened after the game.

After Sanders took the final knee of the game to run out the clock, Jackson State players tried to plant their flag on Southern’s field. Jaguars players immediately came out to confront the player who was holding the "J."

An altercation ensued and police officers had to get in between both teams before anything could escalate further.

The SWAC said the incident would be under review.
