Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Islanders activated forward Frans Nielsen from injured reserve on Sunday.

Nielsen suffered a non-displaced fracture of his left hand when he was slashed by Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson in a 5-2 home loss to Colorado on Feb. 8.

He had 18 goals and 25 assists in 60 games prior to the injury.

To make room on the roster, New York returned forward Mike Halmo to Bridgeport of the American Hockey League.
