New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving and Portland Trail Blazers center LaMarcus Aldridge were named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending Dec. 15.

Irving averaged 29.0 points and 6.3 assists while helping Cleveland to a 2-1 mark on the week. The 21-year-old point guard posted a 37-point, 11-assist double-double in a 109-94 win over the New York Knicks on Dec. 10.

Aldridge, who captured his second consecutive weekly award and third of the season, averaged 25.5 points and a league-best 14.8 rebounds to guide the Western Conference-leading Blazers to a 4-0 week.

Other nominees for the awards included Brooklyn's Deron Williams, Golden State's Stephen Curry, Oklahoma City teammates Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, and Miami's LeBron James.
