Inter Milan defender Maicon was diagnosed with a strained tendon in his right knee Thursday, according to the Italian club, and could be sidelined a few weeks.

Maicon left Wednesday's Champions League match against Marseille at halftime, and Thursday's examination did not turn up any severe damage. Although Inter's diagnosis did not include a timetable for his absence, he will likely sit out two to three weeks.

Marseille won the first match, 1-0, on a late goal in France. Maicon will miss Serie A matches, and the Brazilian international could miss the second fixture against Marseille on March 13 at the San Siro.
