Verona, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Inter Milan claimed its first win under manager Roberto Mancini on Monday as goals from Mateo Kovacic and Andrea Ranocchia handed the club a 2-0 win at Chievo.

Kovacic struck for the Nerazzurri after 19 minutes when he got on the other end of a knock-down from Mauro Icardi to fire the ball home from six yards.

Chievo created few chances, but Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic was up to the task each time, while Ranocchia doubled the advantage shortly before the hour mark by driving home a left-footed effort into the bottom corner of the net following a corner kick from Danilo D'Ambrosio.

Things got even worse for Chievo in the final 20 minutes when substitute Ruben Botta picked up two yellow cards in quick succession to earn himself an early exit.

The loss keeps Chievo only two points above the relegation places, with Inter sitting one point from a spot in the top half of the table.

Monday's other contest saw bottom-half sides Empoli and Torino battle to a 0-0 draw.
