Barcelona, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Andres Iniesta ended speculation over his future by agreeing a new Barcelona contract on Thursday, tying him to the club until 2018.
Talks between Iniesta and Barcelona had stalled in recent months as Manchester United and Manchester City were reportedly ready to swoop in for the 29-year- old, but the lifetime Barcelona star put an end to any conjecture by committing his future to the Catalans.
"We are very happy with his renewal," club president Sandro Rosell said. "I believe this is a great Christmas present for all [supporters]."
