Cleveland Indians pitcher Chris Perez was charged Friday with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

In a statement from the Rocky River police in Ohio, Perez and his wife, Melanie, were released on personal bond after being booked. Criminal complaints were scheduled to be filed in court on Friday.

Police conducted a search Tuesday when a package was delivered to Perez's home in the Cleveland suburb. The press release issued Friday said it contained marijuana with a total weight of 163.9 grams.

Perez, who is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right shoulder, has compiled a 2-1 record with six saves and a 4.32 ERA in 17 appearances this season.
