Cleveland Indians pitcher Zach McAllister has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained right middle finger.

The move is retroactive to June 3.

McAllister has been bothered by finger soreness over his last few starts. He has been roughed up for eight runs -- seven earned -- on 17 hits in 9 2/3 innings over two losses in his last two outings.

The right-hander is 4-5 with a 3.43 ERA in 11 starts this season. He is eligible to return June 18.

Cleveland recalled pitcher Carlos Carrasco from Triple-A Columbus to fill the roster spot. Carrasco, scheduled to start Saturday in Detroit, appeared in one game for the Tribe earlier this season, taking the loss against the Yankees in an April 9 start when he was battered for seven runs in 3 2/3 innings.

He was ejected in that contest after intentionally throwing at Yankees infielder Kevin Youkilis.

In 10 games at Columbus, Carrasco was 2-0 with one save and a 3.21 ERA.
