Alexander Hleb will leave Wolfsburg at the end of the year when his loan deal expires, the Bundesliga club announced Tuesday.

Hleb, 30, joined Wolfsburg last summer on a six-month loan from Barcelona, but injuries have limited the Belarus international midfielder to just four games.

Since making his debut for Belarus in 2001, Hleb has made 55 appearances for his country and emerged as a target for Europe's top clubs while at Stuttgart. He played for Arsenal from 2005-08, and joined Barcelona in 2008.

He has since played on loan at Stuttgart, Birmingham City and Wolfsburg, but his latest spell has been hampered by muscle injuries. Hleb will likely be out of Barca's plans, meaning another loan is in his future.
