Sandy, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Thierry Henry's 57th-minute equalizer helped Red Bull New York earn a 1-1 draw at Rio Tinto Stadium on Wednesday against Real Salt Lake.

Joao Plata fired Salt Lake in front in the 18th minute, but a classy finish from Henry shortly before the hour mark helped New York claim a second successive draw, while RSL was only able to move to within five points of Western Conference leaders Seattle.

New York goalkeeper Luis Robles did well to keep out a redirected effort from Chris Schuler in the 18th minute, but Chris Wingert collected the rebound and passed it off to Plata, who curled a well-placed shot inside the right post.

Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando nearly handed the equalizer to the Red Bulls in the 36th minute when he bobbled a shot that allowed Ambroise Oyongo to pounce on the rebound and drive a shot wide of the net.

The visitors put together a nice build up in the 57th minute and rewarded as Bradley Wright-Phillips played a ball into the area for Tim Cahill, who laid it off for Henry to place a brilliant first-time shot inside the right post past a diving Rimando.

RSL had one final chance in the 71st minute when a point-blank header from Schuler was turned on goal, but kept out by a great reaction from Robles.
