Vancouver, BC (SportsNetwork.com) - Thomas Hay opened with a 6-under 66 on Thursday and grabbed a 1-shot lead after the opening round of the PC Financial Open.

Hay, who has made two cuts in nine career tour starts, matched his career-low round on tour.

Bryn Parry, Nyasha Mauchaza and Jay Myers share second place at Point Grey Golf and Country Club at minus-5.

Former tour winner MacKenzie Hughes posted a 4-under 68 and is tied for fifth place with David Fink, Curtis Reed and Kevin Vanden Heuvel, who are all making their tour debuts, as well as Bo Hoag, Mike Miller and Wade Binfield.

Hay got off to a quick start with three birdies in the first four holes from the 10th. After four birdies in a row, he birdied the 18th en route to making the turn at minus-4.

The Canadian birdied the third to grab a share of the lead. Hay's birdie on No. 5 gave him the lead at 6-under. He closed his bogey-free round with four straight pars.

NOTES: Hay is winless on tour and his best finish came in his first tour start in 2012 at the Times Colonist Island Savings Open ... Ryan Williams, who won the Tour Championship of Canada last year, is a member at this week's host course - Point Grey Golf and Country Club.
