Glasgow, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - Ali Crawford's goal in the 49th minute was enough to help Hamilton claim a 1-0 win over Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday, lifting the visitors into first place in the Scottish Premier League.

Celtic struggled to generate much of an offensive threat in the first half, and Crawford fired Hamilton in front four minutes after the break before the visitors survived some pressure from the Hoops, who lost to Hamilton at home for the first time since 1938.

John Guidetti squandered Celtic's best chance of the first half when he fired wide of the net from 12 yards after being set up by Scott Brown, while Hamilton was content to keep things tight at the back and limit the home side's opportunities.

The opening goal came as a bit of a surprise to the home side four minutes after the break when a cross from Stephen Hendrie fell to the feet of Crawford, whose low shot beat goalkeeper Craig Gordon.

Kris Commons saw a good shot from the top of the box nicely saved by Hamilton goalkeeper Michael McGovern before Anthony Stokes failed to hit the target with a pair of headers from dangerous positions.

The loss leaves Celtic in sixth place in the league table, although the Hoops are only six points back of Hamilton with a game in hand.

Sunday's other contest saw Inverness and Ross County play to a 1-1 draw as Marley Watkins scored in the 49th minute for Inverness to cancel out a first- half opener from Yoann Arquin for Ross County.
