Hamburg, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Hannover saw its winless streak reach seven games on Sunday as the club sustained a 3-1 defeat at Hamburg to drop to 13th place in the Bundesliga.
Szabolcs Huszti fired Hannover in front 28 minutes into the contest, but Milan Badelj equalized three minutes later for the hosts.
Maximilian Beister put Hamburg in front early in the second half and Hakan Calhanoglu wrapped up the win with a goal six minutes from time, taking Hamburg one point above Hannover in the table.
Hamburg goalkeeper Rene Adler made a poor decision to pass the ball to defender Tomas Rincon, who was quickly swarmed by Huszti in the 28th minute. The Hannover man stole the ball and slotted his shot past Adler, giving the visitors the advantage.
But Hamburg was back on level terms just a few minutes later thanks to a fine volley from Badelj that beat goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler from 25 yards.
Beister headed Hamburg in front one minute into the second half when he got on the other end of Heiko Westermann's cross, while Beister turned provider six minutes from time to set up Calhanoglu's goal which killed the game off.
In Sunday's other match, Shinji Okazaki scored two goals to help Mainz hold off Werder Bremen, 3-2.
Mainz jumped out to a 3-0 lead through 70 minutes, while Bremen made things interesting with goals from Eljero Elia and Franco Di Santo in the final six minutes.
