Simona Halep continued her recent strong play with a semifinal win Saturday at the Hungarian Grand Prix and will face Austria's Yvonne Meusburger for the title.

The third-seeded Halep posted a 6-2, 7-6 (7-1) victory over fellow Romanian Alexandra Cadantu after Meusburger thumped sixth-seeded Chanelle Scheepers of South Africa in a 6-2, 6-2 rout.

Halep has won 15 of her last 16 matches and will play in a final for the third time in her last four events. She captured her first-ever WTA titles last month at Nuremberg and Den Bosch before a second-round loss to Li Na at Wimbledon.

The 30th-ranked Halep has yet to lose a set this week and will carry a record of 2-3 in WTA finals into Sunday's match.

Meusburger, meanwhile, will play in just her second WTA title match and first since a loss to Francesca Schiavone at her home tournament of Bad Gastein in 2007.

Halep is 2-1 lifetime against the 29-year-old Meusburger, all in qualifiers.

The 2013 Hungarian Grand Prix champion will earn $40,000.
