Glendale, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Los Angeles Dodgers hurler Zack Greinke departed his spring training debut after only four pitches due to an issue with his right calf.

After retiring Arizona leadoff hitter Tony Campana to begin Thursday's Cactus League contest with the Diamondbacks, Greinke called for trainer Stan Conte following his second offering to Cliff Pennington. The 2009 American League Cy Young Award winner threw two more practice pitches, then walked off the mound while favoring his right leg.

The Dodgers have initially termed Greinke's departure as precautionary.

Greinke, coming off a strong first season with the Dodgers in which he posted a 15-4 record with a 2.63 ERA, is considered a leading candidate to start one of Los Angeles' two season-opening games with the Diamondbacks in Sydney, Australia from Mar. 21-22.
