Chennai, India (SportsNetwork.com) - Sixth seed Marcel Granollers was a three-set first-round winner Tuesday at the Chennai Open, a season-opening hardcourt Australian Open tune-up.

The Spaniard Granollers held off Moldovan qualifier Radu Albot 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 on Day 2.

In other action involving seeds at SDAT Tennis Stadium, No. 7 Edouard Roger- Vasselin of France whipped Spaniard Albert Ramos 6-1, 6-3 and Russian qualifier Alexander Kudryavtsev took out No. 8 Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Bautista Agut was last year's Chennai runner-up to Serbian star Janko Tipsarevic.

Other opening-round victors were Indian wild card Yuki Bhambri, German Benjamin Becker, Slovenian Aljaz Bedene, Indian qualifier Ramkumar Ramanathan, and Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.

This week's top seed is Swiss slugger Stanislas Wawrinka, who titled here in 2011 and was the Chennai runner-up in 2010. He'll open his stay against Becker on Wednesday.
