New Orleans, LA – Lucas Glover posted a 2-under 70 on Saturday and pushed his lead to two strokes after three rounds of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Glover, the 2009 U.S. Open champion, finished 54 holes at 14-under-par 202.
Kyle Stanley fired a 7-under 65 to jump into a share of second place at minus-12. He was joined there by Jimmy Walker (66), Billy Horschel (66) and D.A. Points (70).
Kevin Stadler matched Stanley's 65 to climb into sixth place at 11-under 205 at TPC Louisiana.
Boo Weekley struggled to a 1-over 73 and dipped into a tie for seventh at minus-10. He stands alongside first-round leader Ricky Barnes (66), Henrik Norlander (65) and Monday qualifier Ken Looper (67).
"I just kind of got down on myself with the putter. I've been putting so well the first two days, and all of a sudden I couldn't make nothing," stated Weekley. "It kind of got to me a little bit and I lost a little patience out there."
Glover got on the board with a tap-in birdie on the par-5 second. After a pair of pars, he gave that shot back with a bogey on No. 5.
The 33-year-old 2-putted for birdie on the par-5 seventh and followed with a 9-foot birdie effort on the next hole.
Glover rolled in a 6-footer for birdie on the 11th to move to 15-under, where he was three clear of Stanley and Points. Trouble loomed though for Glover.
The three-time PGA Tour winner missed the green with his tee shot at the par-3 14th and that led to a bogey. Glover again missed the green on a par-3, this time at 17, and that once again led to a bogey.
Glover bounced back with a 2-putt birdie at the last to finish two clear of the field.
"The wind picked up a little more than forecasted, but we are outside so that stuff can happen," Glover joked. "There was a bunch of good scores early, but we knew that. It was good to see some good numbers up early, and I knew there were birdies out there. I just didn't take as much advantage as I should have."
Stanley eagled the second and came right back with a birdie on No. 3. He tripped to a bogey at the fifth, but came back with birdies at seven and nine to make the turn at minus-9.
Last year's Phoenix Open winner birdied three of the last six holes to get in at minus-12.
Walker had a birdie and six pars through seven holes. He flew up the leaderboard with five birdies in the next eight holes. After tripping to a bogey at 16, Walker birdied the 18th to grab a share of second place.
Horschel had a single birdie on the front nine, but then posted five on the inward nine to jump to 12-under.
Points tripped to a bogey at the fourth. He had three birdies from the seventh to 11th to move to minus-12. Points parred the final seven holes to end there.
Fourteen-year-old amateur Tian-ling Guan struggled to a 5-over 77 and tumbled into last place at 2-over 218.
NOTES: Glover owns the third-round lead for just the second time on the PGA Tour. The other time he was in this position, Glover struggled to a 76 to slide into a share of 14th ... Defending champion Jason Dufner fired a 5-under 67 to move into a share of 17th at minus-8 ... With the threat of afternoon thunderstorms, final round tee times were moved up to 8-10 a.m. (ET).
