East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Four-time Pro Bowl guard Chris Snee, who has two Super Bowl titles with the Giants, will not play again this season after being placed on injured reserve with a torn labrum in his right hip.
The New York Daily News said Snee's injury is potentially career-ending.
Snee, who is Giants coach Tom Coughlin's son-in-law, had hip surgery in the offseason and re-injured the hip again at some point during the first few games of the season.
"I've prided myself in playing through things and... I just can't," admitted Snee. "The best thing is for me to watch my team play and try to get my hip right."
The 31-year-old Snee is part of a banged up New York offensive line. Center David Baas (neck) remains hurt and may also need season-ending surgery.
Snee, who is signed through the 2014 season, has started all 141 regular season games he has played in for the Giants. He was originally selected by New York in the second round of the 2004 NFL Draft.
On Friday, the Giants acquired linebacker Jon Beason from the Carolina Panthers for a late-round draft pick. Beason, a three-time Pro Bowler in his own right, is expected to take Snee's roster spot.
