East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Giants announced that left tackle Will Beatty underwent successful surgery Wednesday night to repair a torn pectoral muscle.

The team said the 30-year-old Beatty suffered the injury during weight training on Tuesday and faces a 5-to-6 month recovery period.

Beatty didn't miss a game for the Giants in any of the previous three seasons, during which the 2009 second-round pick made 47 starts.

Rookie Ereck Flowers and Justin Pugh are the most likely candidates to take over Beatty's spot during his absence. Pugh has served as New York's regular right tackle the past two seasons, while the Giants selected Flowers with the ninth overall choice in last month's NFL Draft.
