Freshman Kevon Looney had 17 points and 14 rebounds for his first double-double, and UCLA pulled away in the second half to beat Coastal Carolina 84-71 Sunday night in a matchup of NCAA tournament teams from last season.

Bryce Alford added 17, Norman Powell had 13 before fouling out and Isaac Hamilton 16 for the Bruins (2-0), who started slowly two nights after scoring 113 points in their opener. Tony Parker had 11 points and 11 rebounds for his second career double-double.

Josh Cameron led Coastal Carolina (1-1) with 22 points and Warren Gillis added 16, extending his streak of double-figure scoring to 23 games. Badou Diagne had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Chanticleers.

Both teams shot under 40 percent in the first half, when UCLA led 32-28. The Bruins were outscored 16-6 in the paint and had zero fast break points.
