If you haven't already listened to it, you'll want to make sure to check out a great interview with singer and former amateur boxer Frank Stallone on the It's Time Podcast with Bruce Buffer. The crooner and fighter tells some great stories about his rags-to-riches Hollywood story, his celebrity boxing match against Geraldo Rivera, as well as the first time he watched MMA.
As it turns out, Stallone was in the audience for UFC 3 and got to witness the epic Royce Gracie victory over Kimo Leopold, in person. Though he wasn't initially a fan of the sport, he now says that boxing should "take a page" out of the UFC's book by having more regular, high-profile and high-quality televised bouts like Sunday's UFC Fight Night in Saskatoon.
"I think what happened is that boxing was really starting to go on the wane and we kind of felt that MMA, when it was new, was kind of an invasion of our thing. Probably a little sour grapes," he admitted.
Now, however, Stalline tunes in to the UFC from time to time and has enjoyed watching the sport's evolution over the years. Listen to the entire interview and episode above, or on iTunes!
