PARIS (AP) — France coach Raymond Domenech has confirmed he won't take William Gallas to the World Cup if the Arsenal defender is not fit by the end of May.
Domenech said Gallas will be one of the 24 players named to the team, but told French TV channel TF1 on Sunday that the 32-year-old center back has to recover from a calf injury before France travels to Tunisia for a training camp on May 27.
Gallas arrived in the French Alps resort of Tignes on Saturday to work on his fitness. The rest of the team was to arrive at the Tignes training camp Tuesday.
Domenech said Gallas "will not go to Tunisia if he is not ready to play."
