Tianna Hawkins and Alyssa Thomas each registered double-doubles for the fourth-seed Maryland Terrapins as they cruised to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 72-52 victory over the Quinnipiac Bobcats at the Comcast Center.

Hawkins had 23 points and 16 rebounds and Thomas finished with 29 points and 13 boards for Maryland (25-7). Alicia DeVaughn brought in a game-high 17 rebounds and Katie Rutan collected 11 boards as well for the Terps who await fifth-seed Michigan State.

Felicia Barron tacked on 13 points and collected seven steals for Quinnipiac (30-3).

Thomas scored 12 points in the first half as the Terrapins held a 27-23 lead going into the break. Maryland shot just 38.7 percent during the period but held the Bobcats to 28.1 percent.

Hawkins had a double-double in the second half alone when she scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Maryland pulled away by netting 45.7 percent from the field. Quinnipiac shot a dismal 19 percent from the field in the final period.

Maryland had a 59-41 edge on the boards and a 46-14 advantage on points in the paint. The Terrapins overcome 25 turnovers in the win.
