Buenos Aires, Argentina (SportsNetwork.com) - Second-seeded Fabio Fognini won his second-round match Wednesday at the Copa Claro tennis event, which is part of the ATP World Tour's 'Golden Swing' through Latin America.

Fognini, last week's Vina del Mar champion, dropped a first-set tiebreaker to Leonardo Mayer before rallying for a 6-7 (4-7), 6-3, 6-2 victory on the red clay at Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.

Mayer lost to Fognini in last week's Vina del Mar finale.

Also in the second round, third-seeded Spaniard and 2009 Buenos Aires champion Tommy Robredo overcame Argentine wild card Guido Pella 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 and Pablo Andujar defeated fifth-seeded fellow Spaniard Marcel Granollers 6-3, 6-0.

Sixth-seeded Robin Haase also advanced, needing three sets to outlast Argentine Carlos Berlocq 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 6-2.

The first round concluded with four matches on Wednesday, as fourth-seeded Spaniard Nicolas Almagro doused Argentine Horacio Zeballos 6-2, 7-5; eighth- seeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy topped Colombian Alejandro Gonzalez 6-4, 7-5; Daniel Gimeno-Traver dropped fellow Spaniard Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo 7-5, 6-2; and Ukrainian Alexandr Dolgopolov outlasted Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5).

On Thursday, top-seeded and two-time defending champion David Ferrer will face Colombian Santiago Giraldo in the second round.
