The Philadelphia Flyers are encouraging their fans to take part in the "Million PALA Challenge" by making an effort to be physically active and develop healthy habits beginning now through September 2011. The Flyers are one of two NHL teams that have partnered with the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition in an attempt to get 1,000,000 youngsters and adults to sign up for and achieve the presidential active lifestyles reward.

Flyers fans can earn their PALA by being physically active for 60 minutes per day for youngsters (ages 6-17) and 30 minutes per day for adults for five days per week for a period of six out of eight weeks. Participants can log their times and compare their progress by registering online at www.presidentschallenge.org/NHL_FLYERS and using the ID 100625 to join the Flyers team.

After completing the six-week challenge, participants will be rewarded with a limited edition commemorative certificate recognizing the participation in the Million PALA challenge.

In May, First Lady Michelle Obama, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and USA Hockey Executive Director Dave Ogrean officially launched the collaboration between Mrs. Obama's Let's Move! initiative, the NHL and USA Hockey to encourage American children to lead active and healthy lives.
