Philadelphia, PA – Shanshan Feng's historical win on Sunday at the LPGA Championship helped her jump five places to No. 5 in the women's world rankings.
Feng became the first golfer from mainland China to win on the LPGA Tour. She was also the first Chinese player -- male or female -- to win a major championship.
Despite a poor week in her title defense, Yani Tseng maintained a firm grip on the top spot in the rankings.
Stacy Lewis tied for second behind Feng and that helped her improve to No. 2. For a second straight week, she is the highest-ranked American and stands at a career-best ranking.
Na Yeon Choi fell one spot to third, while Suzann Pettersen, who also shared second at Locus Hill, improved one to fourth. After Feng, Ai Miyazato dropped two to sixth and Sun Ju Ahn and Cristie Kerr both dipped a notch to seventh and eighth, respectively.
I.K. Kim, who was a playoff loser at the Kraft Nabisco, held steady at No. 9. Jiyai Shin slipped a pair to 10th and Paula Creamer was 11th again. Kraft Nabisco winner Sun Young Yoo jumped three to 12th, Brittany Lincicome stayed 13th and Amy Yang fell two places to 14th.
Ji-Hee Lee was down one to 15, Angela Stanford remained 16th then Azahara Munoz and Chie Arimura exchanged places with Munoz up to 17th. Reigning U.S. Women's Open champ So Yeon Ryu stayed put in 19th and Karrie Webb jumped a pair to 20th.
Morgan Pressel was down one to 21st as she was the only player to fall out of the top 20 this week.
